Enchanted by Venice

One of my birthday gifts this year was also a trip to the most beautiful water city in the world-Venice (thanks bubi!). The trip started off in Piran, one of Slovenia's most beautiful cities on the cost. I haven't been there since like forever, so that was quite a trip down the memory lane for me. We went by boat. Because of the bad weather, the boat was more or less rocking all the way to Venice. And that's a 3 hour ride. Note to self: Don't ride boats in a bad weather. So after being glued to the table infront of me for 3 wonderful hours, we arrived to Venice. I' ve never given a lot of attention to this city before, accept while watching the movie Cassanova. It looked pretty awesome from my home sofa. But that was nothing compared to what I saw when we arrived to the actual water city. The ride was really slow once we entered the Venice water area due to a speed limit and high penalties for the captains and other boat drivers. That gave us a nice chance to take a good look at the city. Wow, it was amazing. The buildings are very close together,  there are bridges everywhere and the alleys were super narrow.

Our first stop was Saint Mark's square, the central square of Venice. They've got a big thing going on there. A huge tower, a very decorated church of Saint Mark and a coffee shop that literally robs you. Who the hell invented a ''15 euro'' coffee?? Well actually the coffee is only 9 euros, the rest you pay for the orchestra that plays there. Either you listen to it, of not. Wonder if deaf people pay 15 euros? They can't actually hear the music, so why would anybody charge them 6 euros for it? Anyway, the guides told uf some interesting stories, one was about the two towers on the square where they used to execute those who broke the law. the legend says you shouldn't walk in between them, because that brings bad luck. That's also where the movie Cassanova was shot. At least a few scenes. We also got a chance to see the glass factory and some of their products. A little bit too expensive for my taste, but nevertheless still interesting.

One more thing we also got a chance to experience is: getting lost in Venice. They don't just say ''Venice is a place where you get lost very easily'' for nothing. One moment you're walking on the main, crowded street and the next, your in a very narrow alley, the crowd got lost and you are looking for that freakishly small alley on the map. But getting lost in Venice has it's bright sides. You get to go on your own adventure, see Venice in a ''non.guided'' way and perhaps coming across with some awesome things to take a picture off. So after like a million of bridges, expensive shops, narrow alleys, water canals, a little less expensive shops, amazing masks that completely blew my mind, interesting buildings and a lot of pictures taken, the trip was sadly over. I can honestly say that Venice is one of my favourite cities I have ever seen, and I have seen quite a nice number of them. It was to say the least, enchanting. A place I want to see again. A city I will see again.

And that's how I fell in love with Venice.
